Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into a search box on this site passes straight to the outside company that runs that search. The partner processes the entry and returns the results. We do not keep or log the terms you enter.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is kept so that we can answer it. The message stays with our team and is not passed to anyone outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
A page load generates technical details about the visit, and our servers record them:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- The browser you use and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The site that referred you, if one did
- A timestamp for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. They show us which pages draw traffic and where visitors lose interest, and analytics services help us total that information. Your browser can block cookies whenever you choose. Blocking them may change how parts of the site behave.
What We Do With This Data
The data serves a short list of purposes:
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Routing a search request to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages help readers and which need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Serving ads that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, build, merge, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. We publish general guidance about where Washington County warrant records are held and how to check them through the Sheriff's Office Warrant Unit, the Maryland courts, and the state case portal. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing collected about visitors is assembled into a consumer report or a file about a third party.
Third-Party Search Partners
A search box on this site is operated by an outside company. Anything entered there is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners set their own retention and sharing rules, and we do not control them. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link to the Washington County sheriff's office site, Maryland court portals, state agencies, legal aid groups, and outside search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and the destination's privacy policy governs from that point. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across sites to target ads. That tracking runs on their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of parties may receive it:
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- A law enforcement or government body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We follow standard security practices for the data we hold. No internet service can promise perfect protection, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur. We work to keep the information secure and to limit what we keep in the first place.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent data to us, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Maryland law may give you rights over your personal information. The Maryland Personal Information Protection Act (Commercial Law §14-3501 and following) governs how businesses handle and protect personal information, and the Maryland Public Information Act (General Provisions §§4-201, 4-206, and 4-362) gives the public a route to inspect records held by a public body. At a minimum, you may:
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
